EYECANDY SMÖRGASBORD feat. Lanvin, Plummeting Polar Bears, Candy Magazine, Terence Koh, Daisy Lowe and your Mega Meow Moment
No stale-ass images or ‘inspiration’ allowed here.
The new Lanvin postage stamps. I used to collect stamps (natch.) when I was a wee boy in breeches. Think I’ll ask my Paris connect to pick up some for me.
‘Polar Bears Plummeting’: not a bad name for a band, I should think. But in this case, it’s the idea behind a graphic and shocking environmental message. I don’t think that message is communicated very clearly in this ad. But you’ll never forget the image of a polar bear bouncing off a skyscraper and splattering on the sidewalk. Viewer discretion is advised.
In between prancing about in ballerina costumes, talking to high-end glossies about his lover and generally being an 21-century artsy kind of guy, Terence Koh designed a pair of Converse trainers. Subtle, but if you look closely, he’s redesigned almost every single aspect of the shoe without losing sight of the iconic Converse shape. A tip of the hat to you, mr. Koh.
Smurk.

Jonathan Boulet – Community Service announcement. Don’t think much of the song, but are blue screen hoodies the new black, or what?

So simple, this cover for dance duo Nouveau Yorican, yet so …right. Smack on. Love it. (Hey, it’s an ‘eyecandy’ post, not an essay. Go find your verbal fix somewhere else.)
Espirit bagged themselves Daisy Lowe and Julia Restoin Roitfeld for their SS2010 campaign. The more Daisy Lowe posters on the street, the merrier, I say. This is a backstage snapshot.
And this is the front cover of ‘Candy’, the first fashion magazine for transvestites and transsexuals or, as founder Luis Venega calls it: a ‘Transversal Style Magazine’.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, my cat needs a massage.
