ARIEL PINK: ‘BEFORE TODAY’ ALBUM DEMO

Ariel Pink

Ariel Pink’s is one of those artists I never try to plug to people because I tend to think it’s just too damn weird for anyone to like. I picked up his “Haunted Graffiti” album in NY a few years ago and I’ve been playing it when I find myself alone at dusk, or on a virtually empty train looking at the backyards  flashing by or… You get the picture. This is melancholy, psychedelic music so mellow and intense I sometimes can’t help but wonder if its creator, Ariel Rosenborg is doing OK these days. Turns out he’s doing fine. His new (fourth) album “Before Today” is finished.

After the jump: a 9 minute demo collage of the new album, illustrated by a collage of archived images. Weird and wonderful and pure. Think Daniel Johnston with a Giorgio Moroder obsession, or Animal Collective only recording in the bedroom at 4AM. Check him out.
