M.I.A. – XXXO- ILLY GIRL – VIDEO

I don’t really get why everyone keeps talking shit about M.I.A. I was watching the new (not Hype Williams-directed) video for XXO on Vulture, whose resident blogger seems to be offended by M.I.A. not smiling throughout the video. Really? That’s your critique? You have to smile in a video to make it? That’s more of a comment I would have expected from a label exec in a polyester suit an american apparel shirt. “Why isn’t she smiling? People like smiles. It makes them happy!”
