You know what the biggest trend for 2008 is going to be?

The grand gesture. That’s right. Big emotions are back. Tunes are made to be belted out with great force. Bring back Whitney!

And as grand gestures go, it doesn’t get any grander than The O, aka Theo Adams. His performance is all glitter, Welschmertz (with a huge W), passion and big, big tunes. Forget crying in the rain. Cry on stage, with a massive soundtrack and in full make-up, preferably ripping off your clothes along the way.

Before he performed at Tate, before the big piece in i-D magazine, before he was commissioned to work on the (next) Dazed & Confused “alternative” issue, I was lucky enough to be on the catwalk with him at last year’s SuperSuper show to take pictures. Our boy Thomas -who is like my favourite person of 2007 (sorry for a couple of other peeps I really came to appreciate, but it is what it is), and if he keeps it up, he’ll be in the finals for the O-8 as well.

I need to start a new sentence now, too many hyphens & brackets in the last one. Well, that ThomaslastnameSels, did LDN fashion week again, yesterday.

Lil’ man ain’t even got a collection out. And he like headlined the whole thing (His was the final collection).

T.$ went from Antwerpian college dropout to “When is he showing?” to LDN fashion editor in less than one year.
