Now, I wasn’t thinking about picking up some early 1970’s Nigerian psychedlica today. But these three little nuggets from the new ‘The World Ends’ compilation that dropped yesterday sure got my mouth watering. With all these summer mixtapes dropping like tired old flies, this unexpected gem is my favourite find so far.

LGF and I were invited to watch Show 2010, the graduation show of the Antwerp Fashion Academy front row.

Impressive…

I think we all know Show 2009 was going to be a tough one to follow, what with alumni such as a.o. Elise Gettliffe and Emily Pirlot who got kicked into world fame when Gaga and Beyoncé sported two of her looks in their  “Telephone” video.

We were extremely entertained and saw some great work.

Who was first? The academy’s Head Master and his oversized headphones or Judith Thomas (”Kind, zieh dich warm an” 4th year) and her big ear muffs?

LGF and I want to see Michael Kampe’s “Exploded View” denim in stores next season. Could somebody make that happen please?

I love this guy. Such a great musician. Such a great look.

We shot him, SOULWAX/2MANYDJS, THE ODDWORD and THE BLACK BOX REVELATION for De Standaard Magazine.

We booked Amélie Lens for this shoot. She made the VOGUE US Top 10 Faces To Watch list (actually she was n°3).

She’s only 19, but has walked shows for a.o. Maison Martin Margiela and Jean Paul Gaultier (he has lovingly named her “ma petite Belge”).

I would like to name her : “hey kid, you’re a pro. and you’re amazing + ultra fun. We’ll be doing this again soon.” (I’m known for giving long ass nicknames)

David & Stephen are looking at me like I’m telling something remotely inneresting & funny although I’m pretty sure the only thing  going through my head at this point was : “pfwiiieettt-tuuuuuuuut-aaaahyoufuckingsecuredSoulwaxforasuperexclusiveshootanditsdoneandtheyrehappy-fwiiiiet.”

The Black Box Revelation. The singer (left) introduced himself with the rock ‘n’ roll staple : “Hi I’m Dries and I need to take a dump.”

Good dudes though and you should go watch them live. It’s just the two of them, but they wreck stuff.

I was a big Baloji fan long before we actually met, became friends and started working together…

I remember going to Starflam gigs and just marvel (that’s an Oprah word especially for you, B) at his flow, the way he moved on stage and of course his impeccable sense of style.

Cue 7 years later and now we have dinner parties, heated discussions, the occasional drunk night (once a year) and co-produced photoshoots.

Man, it’s been a hectic week and I can’t wait to start the weekend. Instead of posting the latest indie band everybody else is posting about two hours later, I thought I’d start off your weekend with a smile by sharing my favourite Craigslist ad of all time. It’s a bout a dead bird in a mailbox and somehow, it makes me happy everytime I read it.

l) the super didn’t care when I told him what happened
m) the neighbors didn’t care either

o) don’t put anything else in my mailbox
p) unless it’s an apology
q) no, I take that back, I don’t even want an apology
r) what am I supposed to do with this bird – it’s in bubblewrap in a bag in a shoebox in the freezer right now – am I supposed to bury it – where? how? in a construction site where they’ve jackhammered through the concrete – where is a person supposed to bury things in this city?
s) I could drop it in the Gowanus canal, but that seems undignified
t) I could drop it in the ocean, but the ocean is so big and it is such a small bird
u) I could drop it in the toilet but it would probably get stuck
v) I hear this whirring around my ears every time I go to the mailbox and I’m pretty sure it’s ghost bird, and I’m all “it wasn’t me that killed you, bird!” but still the whirring doesn’t go away until I get to the stairwell
w) am I supposed to eat it – maybe you were trying to feed me – don’t you know I’m a vegetarian
x) if this was Ricky, I’m gonna beat your ass, mama told you stop bothering the zoo
y) if this was Gina, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, how many times I gotta say I’m sorry
z) I could drop it off the roof, maybe it will reincarnate while falling and I can start reading my mail again
