I don’t know if it’s because of the fact that I’ve been up and working since 5.30 am and I’m in a foul mood (it’ll blow over) or if I’m just plain right. But how fucking weird and stupid is this Hipster Grifter?

If you haven’t heard. This chick is a downright internet sensation. She’s a former Vice employee (receptionist or something like that) that skeemed her way into dumb dudes’ pants, hearts and wallets.

She faked abortions (not sure how you do that and I don’t think I want to know) and cancer on numerous occasions and she was wanted for 5 cases of fraud. She’s in jail now.

Now I’m not hating on the internet sensation part. It’s an ugly world and if employers are too lazy to google you and guys are willing to believe you threw up and flushed one of their spawn (I’m guessing), by all means Kari Ferrell (Will, is this your sister? Are you in on this?) : keep doing your thing.

What I don’t get is smart women à la Leah McSweeney endorsing this chick and staging an entire (and really sucky) photoshoot.

Ugh, I gotta stop now. I hate hating on this site.

So let me finish with some Hipster Grifter fun facts :

Once, she asked a bartender to pass a note to another customer that read :

“I want to give you a hand job with my mouth,” and was signed “Korean Abdul-Jabbar.”

She has an “I LOVE BEARDS” tattoo on her back.

She tricked guys into believing that she was working on a book for Vice—a coffee table book of photographs of men with beards posing next to her “I Love Beards” tattoo.

Now that actually sounds like something Vice would do.

Now you can have your own hipster grifter doll. And since Kari posted some nude pics of her bad self on the net, Bryan (designer dude) “had to design this so the dress comes off and you can see some boobz”.

Chris Cunningham has been off the radar for a very, very long time.

His promo shorts for the likes of Aphex Twin and Björk are the stuff of legends, and just when everybody thought he would be the next big thing in cinema, he totally  fell off the grid. There were stories of him ‘consulting’ on movie sets, dozens of ‘abandoned projects’ (like Chris directing the film version of “Neuromancer”) and in 2006, he released the video for “Sheena is a Parasite” by The Horrors after discovering them on MySpace. Then in 2008, Dazed & Confused Magazine took a stab in the dark asked him if he would like to meet Grace Jones. He did.

Now in 2009, it looks like we’re finally going to see more new work. There’s a ‘best of’ book in the making and, apparently, two movies in the pipeline.

I think I’ve got to get a couple of feature films finished first. There’s one I’m working on now that you could loosely describe as a horror. Actually talking about this reminds me of that scene in American Werewolf in London when he changes into the werewolf in the front room. That really shocked me. I think it was because it was shot in a brightly lit, stark front room and he’s naked and although there’s something really shocking happening in it there’s a sexual element to it.
