THREE THINGS THAT MADE ME HAPPY RECENTLY
1. Seeing Flag live
A cliché question amongst music bores is ‘best festival line-up dead or alive’. Black Flag would always be on my list. Ideally, Keith Morris would sing most of the set and Henry Rollins would sing ‘My War’ with Kira on bass. FLAG, a reunited Black Flag without Greg Ginn, is as close to that fantasy as I’ll ever get. If you watch closely, you can see me (and my best friend next to me) getting stomped in the left corner of your screen.
The setlist:
This is one of my bruises the next day.
Unfortunatley, that was the least of it. The muscles on the right side of my neck got infected after being overly stressed at the gig, so I ended up in the emergency room at the hospital a few days later.
They fitted me with a neck brace … Read More »

After the succesful launch of their collaboration with New York artist KAWS, luxury cognac brand Hennessy asked Lenny McGurr aka FUTURA (57) if he would fancy designing a custom label for their esteemed Hennesy V.S. KNOTORYUS TALKS TO ED TEMPLETON (INTERVIEW)
Not one to be pigeonholed, Ed Templeton has received critical acclaim as a professional skateboarder, painter, photographer, graphic designer, entrepreneur and clothing designer. Born and raised in Orange County, California, Templeton got his start in professional skateboarding life at just 18. He married his girlfriend of four years, Deanna, a year later and they’ve been each other’s constant companion ever since. His first gallery show took place almost 20 years ago, around the same time that he founded his own skateboarding brand Toy Machine. Now, at 40, Templeton has published several succesful photography books and toured the world with his paintings. Currently showing at the Tim Van Laere Gallery in Antwerp, Templeton’s latest show ‘Symptoms’ shows his point of view on our symptomatic society and features work that mainly consists of ‘in-between’ moments.
In October 2012, late at night, I found … Read More »
KNOTORYUS AT LONDON FASHION WEEK: DAY 1
Note from Dominique : Years ago, after I finished my internship at MTV Networks in London during which I was expecting to be locked up in the mailroom, but instead was flown around Europe -sometimes 1st class- to help cover all the big festivals, I was so grateful for the experience that I vowed that if I ever bumped into a skilled and eager young individual myself, I would return the favour. So we took our own apprentice, the very talented and incredibly fun Immi Abraham, on an expenses-paid trip to London Fashion Week. Because we thought he deserved a chance. And because we are hoping that one day, he will pay it forward too.
Go ‘head Immi :
WHERE YOUR REAL FRIENDS AT?
Three years and millions of sales since his first mixtape Drake is not pretending to be anything else than a middle class Canadian dude for whom ‘the bottom’ was playing soccer on fake grass or being extatic about working the nightshift in some random store while your friends are combing their hipster beards by the cash register.
KNOTORYUS TALKS TO MATTHEW MILLER : “IF IT PASSES THE COOL AS FUCK TEST, I’M HAPPY.”
Standing out is pretty hard to do nowadays. It’s all been put out there, done and dusted. But London-based menswear designer Matthew Miller stood out to me. His brightly printed suits were making the rounds on Tumblr and I took stock. Barely graduated from the Royal College of Art, Miller got plugs from Dazed, i-D, Hypebeast, Wonderland and every self-respecting London blogger. His uniqueness lies in his commitment to innovative technology and techniques, and how they relate to the human body. Take for instance his AW12 collection: Miller went around London to find unique patterns in the surroundings, digitally printed them on his garments and provided us with the exact geolocation coordinates of where the photo was taken. With the AW13 menswear mayhem just behind us, now was the perfect time to get to know this highly promising, self-described ‘chav … Read More »
