This Swedish Clothing Brand Fights for Your Body Rights

Most of us don’t know too much about 20th-century Swedish sex educators slash feminist anarcho-pacifists, but we do know a good slogan tee when we see one. ELISE is a new brand created by RFSU, a Swedish non-profit that fights for body rights and sexual education around the world and they’re here to let all of you know what’s what on what.

The name is an homage to Elise Ottesen-Jensen, who stood on the barricades for women’s rights and sex ed in Scandinavia and founded the RFSU in 1933. Her organisation went on to open its own Swedish stores in the sixties, providing styles of the times and a hideout space for the young to read and educate themselves. The ELISE brand affirms her messages and translates them to 2017 with clear and vital slogans like “My Rights Don’t Come Off With This T-shirt”, “Social Climate Change”, “Get Your Priorities Queer” (my personal fave ofc) and “Empathy”. The world can’t hear that last one enough, that’s clear. ELISE’s goal is to also become an ever-developing platform for self-expression over time.

All items are made from organic fair trade cotton and proceeds benefit the work the RFSU still carries out. This first collection consists of tees, sweatshirts, accessories and mugs and prices range from €15 to €70.

You can place your order via the ELISE webshop or colette Paris.
