About UN/CUT, The Major Monograph By Pascal van Loenhout

Pascal van Loenhout is the kind of unpretentious Belgian powerhouse whose story instantly sets off your inspiration levels. The internationally acclaimed hairdresser worked his way up to the pinnacle of a global industry, never goes for regular at his own prominent salon PASCAL VAN LOENHOUT ANTWERP (walking distance from the train station, so get!) and compromises no more as he headlines world stages to share his gift of shaping do's. Six years have passed since the publication of his first photography book and now a second monograph has landed. Strongly titled UN/CUT, the book pairs the most compelling haircuts with a timeless, offbeat mood that will spellbind lovers of art, beauty, fashion or even architecture alike.

The book’s design and art direction was entrusted to Antwerp paramount of graphic design Paul Boudens, who worked the imperfect imagery shot by fashion and music photographer Charlie De Keersmaecker in that unmistakable, renowned style of his – not stopping short of slashing the actual pages for maximum mood.

KNOTORYUS was asked to pen what became the book’s 6-page long introduction, telling the compelling Pascal van Loenhout story in an honest and unflinching way.

You’ve got to pick one up to get the full journey from the young punk kid shaking the table at hairdressing school to London hair superstar, salon founder working with the likes of Stephen Jones and international creative director – all while dealing with the demons of success. The master of the self-described “unhairdressy” haircut has a word as well as a fresh look for you (by appointment, of course).

Basically: if you’re feeling the heat of holiday gift-giving, perspire no longer. UN/CUT is everything you love to give: subversive, inspiring and stellar-looking with a ribbon on top.
