Make-Up To Be Here For: Pat McGrath Labs "MatteTrance"
Pat McGrath MBE is perched comfortably on that legend status. Just thinking about those mid-2000s Dior Haute Couture make-up looks she used to create (Alek Wek in SS04? It’s over!) will weaken kneecaps. After finally launching her namesake professional make-up brand in 2015, the girls and boys have awaited each release with bated breaths and beat faces. The latest addition, “MatteTrance” matte lipsticks, will be dropping this Wednesday.
Previewed at Maison Margiela Artisanal during Paris Haute Couture, all 9 available Pat McGrath Labs’ “MatteTrance” shades are supposed to envelop your lips in a “lightweight veil of opaque colour” but even if they didn’t, the surrealist black and gold cases would be reason enough to add all to cart.
More importantly, like with entrepreneurs Florence Adepoju of MDMFlow and the iconic Iman of IMAN Cosmetics, these are items created by black women who know how to look out for fellow make-up fiends who are still too often not considered in the cosmetics industry creative process.
The entire collection will be launching on Wednesday July 19 via PatMcGrath.com and Sephora. Prices will range from $38 for singles, to $275 for the limited first edition ‘Everything Kit’. The fuchsia one is called “Full Panic”. I mean.
