Do Better: HYPEPEACE x FC Palestina Football Shirts
Conscious UK streetwear label HYPEPEACE is in with a new kicker: football shirts created in collaboration with peer brand FC Palestina. Even if you're not a footballhead (that's the name of the fandom, right?) currently intravenously hooked into the World Cup, these shirts are a beautiful way to do better if you're looking to do so.
As has been the case since September 2016, HYPEPEACE supports specific causes by raising awareness and funds. This time each shirt they sell will contribute £12 to sponsor the Palestine Youth Sports League (PYSL).
The PYSL is a seasonal league where kids between the ages of 5 and 17 participate in different sports and experience positive community spirit by getting all genders involved in team sports. You can find out more about this UN-backed project here. The HYPEPEACE line includes a home shirt in white and an away shirt in a green colourway, inspired by the Celtic Glasgow '89-'91 kit. The shirt number honours football legend Cristiano Ronaldo since both Celtic fans and Ronaldo have been firm supporters of the Palestinian cause.
HYPEPEACE and FC Palestina's goal is to create and donate 1,300 complete uniforms for the 56 different Gaza football teams competing in the U18 football 'Tokyo League' tournament by next year. To get there, 40% of the profits from HYPEPEACE clothing sales will be combined with a crowdfunding campaign coming soon. The PYSL project is a great cause to back, they do crucial work to better the physical and psychosocial conditions of disadvantaged children in the Gaza Strip and Westbank.
