This King Krule Video for "Logos" is Heart-Breakingly Beautiful
“Logos” is one of the most heart-wrenching songs on King Krule’s The OOZ. It’s a dream-like return to memories of spending time with his mother while she was struggling with alcohol addiction. The intimacy of lyrics like “I thought about her / Her smell through clothes / Her spoken smoke, mixed with my cologne” is deepened even further by letting his brother, Jack Marshall, animate the video. Watch as a lonely robot makes his way across an unstable landscape, stopping to examine a cracked object he was carrying along, which eventually creates a hole the whole scenery falls through.
Animation by Jack Marshall.
The OOZ is out now on XL Records.
Quote:
"It's kind of created its own meaning now, because the record's kind of about the monotony of day to day, falling back into your head, being taken with your thoughts into a different place. ‘The OOZ’ for me represents ... your sweat, your nails, the sleep that comes out of your eyes, your dead skin. All of those creations that you have to refine. That's where it comes from: It's kind of about refining the subconscious creations that you do constantly.” (From NPR)
