shame - 'Water in the Well'
One of the things I really miss this year is walking around London the week before Christmas and weaving in and out of independent music stores to check out the ‘staff favourites’ lists. It’s usually an off-the-beaten-track reminder of how much great stuff you’re missing out on if you’re too dependant on algorithms and mainstream media listicles. In 2018, the band ‘shame’ and their album ‘Songs of Praise’ was topping many of these end-of-year lists, even though they didn’t get a lot of attention, hype-wise. And now, two years later, I almost missed their follow-up again. ‘Water in the Well’ is a simple, spot-on indie nugget, announcing ‘Drunk Tank Pink’, out next year. Don’t miss it.
