Fred Perry x Art Comes First AW20 (Lookbook + Pieces)

Your fave travelling punk tailors have returned. We’ve been telling you how Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh of Art Comes First bring undiluted Black excellence to fashion and tailoring, and this is a new chance for you to partake. For the latest drop from their longtime collab with British label Fred Perry, the pair drew inspiration from the classic work of photographer Dave Hendley - who lensed the essence of rudeboy culture in Jamaica and the United Kingdom during the late 70s. Sam and Shaka submerged themselves in Hendley’s photo archive as well as vintage Fred Perry designs and, as a result, were able to pay tribute to the sound and power of rudeboy culture as well as reinterpret a cultural zenith through clothing.

“Many of the Fred Perry archive pieces didn't feel like clothing to us, they felt more like characters from Mr Hendley's pictures, and that inspired us for days. We're very proud just to be able to continue telling that same story you see documented in his pictures, through clothing”, the designers shared.

Pieces from the gender-free collection include revere-collar bowling shirt with a relaxed, boxy fit as well as relaxed rib polo shirts, knitwear, a harrington jacket, henley tees and more in shades of of yellow, navy, black and crimson. The campaign also previews more indigo denim and graphic pieces, featuring the wise, winged words “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.” As of now, some of these pieces are not yet available online but stay connected.
