Luca Guadagnino directs the new video for Sufjan Stevens
I know your feed is clogged with snow right now, but please clear a temporary path for this frosty little gem by Luca Guadagnino (director of “Call Me by Your Name” and “Suspiria”) for Sufjan Stevens. The lyrics are a call for love in spite of everything and the video shows people awkwardly writhing, trying to find a position that’s comfortable or maybe even allows for a connection, surrounded by a white void. Something else is alive. Besides this white expanse where the bodies move. Cold, delicately as the dark snow, A fox’s nose touches twig, leaf; Two eyes serve a movement, that now And again now, and now, and now Sets neat prints into the snow. A connection is made in the end, in a flash, maybe more surreal or even disturbing than we had hoped.
Directed by Luca Guadagnino with the collaboration of Alessio Bolzoni & Celia Hempton.
