TDE has been running victory laps around the globe in 2024. Peeping out from under the shadow of Kendrick and Doechii, the album ‘Soul Burger’ by Ab-Soul is a multi-faceted gem worth discovering. On “California Dream”, Vince Staples and Herbert deliver on the lyricism as always, but the production on this track, with a subtle nod to Mac Miller, really brings the power and spiritual shine home. “Cause I been practicing that everything is as it should be / F*ck what it should’ve, would’ve or it could be.” is a bar bordering on a mantra.
