MONDAY MUSIC: NEON NEON & JAMIE LIDELL
First up: NEON NEON, a collabo between Boom Bip and Super Furry Animals. Their 'Stainless Style' is a celebration of the DeLorean car, making it an offical 'electro concept album'. Hey, so was 'FutureLoveSexSounds' and that sold pretty well. Check the track with Spank Rock first (the entire album is up on their MySpace), then let the rest seep in. Neon Neon is all up on the blogs and in your favourite hype mag right now, but dudes from Pitchfork beat everyone to the sucker punch by hosting a mixtape of NEON NEON influences back when Britney was still bald. Ditch those suicide doors, plug in this mixtape, pop the wings and fire up the fluxdrive.
Here's the tracklist:
Neon Neon: "Theme Song" Goblin: "Tenebre" Neil Young: "Sample and Hold" Paul McCartney: "Temporary Secretary" Kraftwerk: "Numbers (Wicked Mix)" Tears for Fears: "Mother's Talk" Neon Neon: "Raquel (Extended Mix)" Debbie Gibson: "Only In My Dreams (Extended Club Mix)" Janet Jackson: "Pleasure Pricipal (Eli Edit)" Prince: "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" Neon Neon: "Fuckin' Off Cover (Outtake)"
BONUS: And here's the feelgood track you needed to not stab your co-workers in the mouth his morning:
New Jamie Lidell: "Little Bit of Feelgood", from the forthcoming album 'JIM'. I interviewed Jamie back when he was working on his first solo album: it started with him jumping on a chair and pretending to be a crashing plane and ended with a heart-felt 'Good talk, man. I'll be fine. Don't worry.'
