Tim Coppens x Eastpak AW16 Runway Collection
Tim Coppens isn’t playing with you this month.
At New York Fashion Week’s second men’s edition yesterday, the designer from flyspeck-town Belgium (Moerbeke, what’s good?) sent out his AW16 collection - hashtagged ‘ACID’. Keen eyes clocked the results of Coppens’ latest collaboration slouched across the shoulders of a few models: brand new limited Eastpak backpacks.
Traditionally a NYFW highlight, the Antwerp Fashion Academy alum's show was charged with 80s to 00s youth culture and slanted layering. After a first collab with Eastpak’s Designers Against AidsArtist Studio in 2014, Tim Coppens returns to the brand with a signature smattering of his sport-luxe designs. Available in four colourways, the bags feature drawstring zigzag lacing, mesh, quilted backs and leather trimming.
Coppens also dropped his SS16 campaign just last week, which gave you all the brace face. Highly esteemed stylist and fellow Belgian-cum-New Yorker Tom Van Dorpe put the looks together - Van Dorpe styles every Tim Coppens show and gave him that much-needed early exposure in titles like VMAN. The campaign was art directed by frequent Kris Van Assche collaborator Nicolas Santos.
Barney’s New York is also dropping a Tim Coppens capsule collection this very Monday, designed with Oklahoma City Thunder point guard (not going to pretend I know what that is) Russell Westbrook.
We see you, Tim!
