Zulupapuwa by Walter Van Beirendonck for Jbc ss16 Just Dropped
After showing his FW16 'WOEST' collection at Men's Paris Fashion Week a month ago, which merited oral and written ovations from all the attending editors -including us-, the mighty Walter Van Beirendonck is far from done gifting the world with his beautifully crafted but supremely modern and conscious designs.
For the SS16 collection of ZulupaPUWA, the children's line he has been drawing consistently for Belgian chain JBC for over a decade, Walter was inspired by a recent "most magnificent" trip he took to Iceland. The Antwerp Fashion Academy's Headmaster fell in love with the puffin but also immediately took the endangerment of the species to heart. Highlighting environmental issues and acting accordingly have always been returning subjects in his collections and this time, Walter wants to draw attention -once again, because most of us don't seem to get it- to climate change and the dangers of industrialised commercial fishing.
Kudos to this little girl for serving all the "judging adults for not taking care of those cute puffins like they should have and now the puffin is sad and Walter had to draw it on fabric to make you pay attention. You know what?! I'm going to stare at you until you START RESPECTING THIS PLANET " realness.
Also, she looks fabulous and that vest is the absolute best.
Seriously, I love how these kids are d o n e. Over it. They completely had it with you and your polluting crap.
This little boy in the above image does not want to hop of this bar stool and karate chop you, but if you don't stop using plastic bags and start stocking up on environmentally friendly cleaning products, he might have to. Get it together, grown ups.
(Mind you, Walter has always said he is against violence, but let's not forget he is WOEST, which means furious + he is pissed to such a degree he designed a full black look for FW 2016. I don't know about you, but I'm thinking all bets are off.)
"You still eating that industrially sourced salmon? Boy, bye."
