Thames ss2016 Because I'll Basically Buy Anything Blondey Mccoy Is Selling

(Blondey McCoy portrait by Mike O'Meally)

For this post's occasion I thought I'd count how many Thames products I already own and apparently it's a grand total of six. Which is a lot given that the London based brand created by designer/skater/artist/Palace model Blondey McCoy has only existed for a couple of seasons. I just make a point of dropping by the Palace brick & mortar everytime I'm in London and have a look at what the 18 year-old half-lebanese dopeboy came up with this time.

With his Spring/Summer 2016 collection, the kid is paying tribute to singer Kirsty MacColl who most of you without an 80s fetish (too bad tbh) will know from "Fairytale of New York", her duet with the legend Shane McGowan and arguably the best Christmas anthem next to Mariah's. (While you're at it, check out MacColl's "A New England", the lyrics are amazing.)

McCoy's artwork often features collages and cut-outs, techniques he also used in this collection.

That graphic in the above image is so good.

The H.M.S. London R.I.P. shirt (see below) references a ship that was blown up in the 1800's and that perished together with 300 crew members, as told to Wonderland.

One of my Thames crewnecks features an embroidery of what looks like an eel swimming through a diamond ring, just above the left cuff and I appreciate these little details.

Thames London SS 2016 drops online tomorrow March 19, 2016, at 00:01 GMT and will also be available in store at Palace London and online at Slam City.

Great job, Blonds.
