HERE BE MIXES
Instead of bitching about how you got me working - working day 'n night, I thought I'd share some of the mixes and mixtapes I've got on my headphones while I'm thrashing deadlines.
Number one:
Ice Cream Mixtape. (Dubstep is Metal) via The Fader
Punishing beats. Real heavy stuff. Perfect for late night adrenaline shots, even later deadlines or slowly fucking yourself up with a sweat-soaked run out in the summer heat. Oh, and it's got a dubstep remix of Britney Spears. And it's good, too.
image: Last Night's Party
Wanna know what I'm working on right now? There's a clue in this picture. (by The Cobra Snake) I'm working on invites to a party in Brussels soon. Can't tell you where or when. You won't believe who's flying over to play. Ho hum.
Unrelated but in my headphones nonetheless: another dubstepper by Benga, live at Five Days Off in Ghent, Belgium. (via B-log)
Some old skool breakbeats on this one. Nineties soul breaks rule.
Also slowly making his way back into my headphones: Lil' Wayne with "Tear Drop Tune 2"
How many metaphors does Wayne have that involve 'fire', 'fireman' and 'heat'? Let's just say: a lot. Wayne combines the flows that made him a legend with some real experimental tracks. Has anyone noticed his rock stuff is getting dangerously close to Tricky's "Pre-Millenium Tension" period? The jury is till out on this one (disco? really?), but I do admire his guts & gusto to keep the crowd guessing.
Ok, last one for tonight:
DJ WALSHY : "DECADES' DANCEHALL MIXTAPE
96 classics and hard-to-finds all rolled up in one big toke of a mix. (via The Fader)
Enjoy.
