DIZZEE, MEHDI & MARY ANNE
Yesterday, we had another one of those KNOTORYUS nights. We went to see Dizzee Rascal and DJ Mehdi perform @ AB in BX-capitale... (try to spot Dizzee. The name of his first album should be a big clue)
Quality wise, this thing sucked. Dizzee thought playing large parts of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' was a good idea. And then he and his mate started dancing in a way they probably think is how you dance to rock music, innit. Think Homey the Clown meets the Easter Bunny. But him bringing Fix Up, Look Sharp, made everything ok.
Now, I'm a huge fan of DJ Mehdi. But the only thing his set did for me was making me feel right about not going to Ibiza with my friends in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. What was that all about?
The nicest surprise of the night was the DJ-set of BBC's Radio 1 face Mary Anne Hobbs. LGF's heart skipped a beat when he saw her and she obliged by lovingly posing for him.
My highlights of the evening were watching LGF be hit upon by gay Etienne De Crécy fans and then him totally obliviously shouting 'Play I Love U!' -which is one of his favourite Dizzee Rascal songs. Of course he didn't yell "I love U", but that's what it sounded like to me and all the guys that wanted to make him his loverboy. I 'm still laughing about this. After that I was being harassed by girls who for some reason wanted their pic taken with me. Turned out they only liked me because my MOB shirt.
