Lately, I've been thinking about sincerity. About the rare commodity of sincerity, specifically. You cannot manufacture sincerity. So demand will always outstrip supply. And there is another reason it's so precious. Who can afford it? Who can afford to be sincere? You?

My 8-year-old asked me what defines a rich person a few days ago. I told her a rich person can afford things. Some people think those things are cars and houses. Me, I 'd like to be able to afford not to worry too much and be myself.

My dad did his thesis on the psychoanalysis of Carl Rogers. I wonder if he ever saw Carl crying.

This is a recording of a session in which a group of people (lead by Mr. Rogers) tries to be completely sincere with themselves and others. In the end, Carl is moved to say "You cannot unlearn this.", but I'm not so sure about that. People seem to unlearn all the time, and fast.
