You by now are fully recovered from the Antwerp Fashion Department's SHOW2018, your wig is re-fastened and your look is once again dry-clean pristine. Your barouche is gleaming, the coachman has all the directions and the horses are fed. Which also means you’re ready to gear up for the next spectacle in line. The Textile and Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK) is ready to welcome you back at their annual graduate fashion show and expo on Saturday June 16.
Guided and coached to greatness by radical Belgian designer and department head Jurgi Persoons and his faculty, the class of 2018 includes graduates Yasmin Boomsma, Yuki Ito, Tim Scholte and Laura Snijders as well as work made by the Bachelor students. Taught by leading artists such as Marina Yee, Peter De Potter, Jan Jan Van Essche, Hilde Frunt, Bob Verhelst and many more, the students are among The Netherlands’ brightest fashion forces powering through the only programme in the country that combines textile and fashion design. This leads to automatic no-box-in-sight thinking and creating. For the first time, the Keep an Eye Textile & Fashion Award worth €10,000 will be awarded to the graduate showing the most promise.
As tradition has it, at the same time, the EXPOSED exhibition will be open to visitors attending the show before and after both shows. You’ll be able to get up-close to the Masters’ designs alongside installations created by the Bachelor students.
You can also reserve your copy of the accompanying '4 Magazine' when you purchase ticket, to get an even sharper insight into the universe and expressive means of the students.
Follow KNOTORYUS on Instagram to catch the show live and in colour (unless we’re feeling a different filter) and the expo highlights.
