[youtube CN5rIqAHdAw nolink] So yesterday when the Soulwax movie ended (loved it), I was talking with a good friend who really loves music (He's got an original Velvet Underground vinyl, early Stooges pressings, sings along with Jacques Dutronc without missing a beat and can play every bass riff of any Joy Division album.) and he was like: "Is the new Portishead any good?" and I was like: "What?" and jumped up like I was offended or maybe about to do the guy a favor he'd remember for the rest of his life and I urged, nay, commanded him to pick up "3" and then, as if by magic, the DJ started playing this little ditty: "The Rip", which is going to be the new single.
The new video is a fittingly nightmarish, cartoonish affair. If you haven't listened to the album yet: everything you've been reading about it is true.
