About a month ago, Björk announced the advent of a new album - while simultaneously inventing the word 'warmthness', which will now be part of our lexicon evermore. No name has been announced yet for her ninth full-length release, co-produced by Arca, but a debut single called "The Gate" will be dropping September 18. To celebrate the momentous release, a special screening of the "The Gate" video will be held for free in London this weekend.
Working with trusted collaborators James Merry, responsible for the incredible custom Björk headgears (go peep one at the POWERMASK exhibition) as well as Andrew Thomas Huang and also Gucci's Alessandro Michele, the film is set to screen for free at The Store Studios in London from September 16 to 17.
What to expect from the song itself?
"The Gate’ is essentially a love song, but I say ‘love’ in a more transcendent way. Vulnicura was about a very personal loss, and I think this new album is about a love that’s even greater. It’s about rediscovering love – but in a spiritual way, for lack of a better word.” - Björk
On September 18, "The Gate" will be released digitally. As from September 22, a limited single-sided 12" vinyl release will be ready for shipping.
