"New Material", the appropriately and slightly passive-aggressively named new album by Preoccupations is "an ode depression and self-sabotage, and looking inward at yourself with extreme hatred." So....fair warning, you're not going to watch someone skipping along the beach here. Matt Flegel, who wrote "Disarray", is seen aimlessly strolling along, thoughts fluttering in the wind.
Fans of Joy Division, Editors and swaying along to a new-wave baseline with a catchy introvert chorus will nod approvingly and maybe even add this to their achingly well-curated playlist of angsty feels.

Lyrics:
Disarray. Through the tangle, Split the braids, Scramble through. In the mangled masquerade interlude. Holding you up to the test of time, It's easy to see why everything you've ever been told is a lie, Removed from empty rooms. Disarray. Circumstances of the weakest magnitude, Through traumatic trepidation in pursuit. Holding you up to the test of time, It's easy to see why everything you've ever been told is a lie, Removed from empty rooms.
