OK, yes, "The Station" from the upcoming Oneohtrix Point Never EP by the same name is a bit bleak, but what do you expect when the credits read "additional production by James Blake"? The video tells a story that's very much open to interpretation. Prepare to rest your fingertip lightly on your pursed lips and ask yourself questions like: "What do these chains mean?" "Are the people in Plato's cave?" "Why do the chains and walls have eyes?" "Are these tortured figures protecting or hurting each other?" "Is it really about the 1982 horror classic 'The Thing'?" "Or maybe it's about the alienation that comes from a self-examined life?" Please discuss.
Directed and animated by Daylen Seu.
If you need some extra clues, you might (or might not) find them in the simultaneously released Oneohtrix Point Never video for "We'll Take it" from the 'Age Of' LP.
