Teenage London foursome black midi is confusing people left and right with their debut ‘Schlagenheim’, which apparently serves up a concoction containing morsels of Swans, Sonic Youth, The Fall and more. Punk, post-punk, indie, whatever you’re going to call it: it sounds pretty good to me. The video for ‘ducter’ was made by Anthrox Studio, worshipped by gamers across the globe for their work on Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. It’s a mix of Game of Thrones intro, Frans Hals on LSD and also features a waterfall of homunculi. The lyrics are hard to make out, but Genius tells me it’s about sexual abuse. In any case, plenty to chew on and definitely worth checking out.
