Today is the day that Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange blessed us with his brand new album "Freetown Sound" and a video for its first single "Augustine".
Dev is just this interesting human being who we have been following since his Test Icicles and Lightspeed Champion days.
If you want your day to go better, watch videos of Dev dancing on his own in actual dance studios. It's so 80s dance-flick but in a real way. He partly inspired me to take classes again, which I fully did (the other half came from my best friends speaking at our wedding about how utterly obsessed I was during my youth). Most solid decision of 2016 already.
“I have just finished making an album about my life, my upbringing, being black in England, being black in America… My move to this country at the age of 21, the same age my mother moved from Guyana to London, and my father from Sierra Leone to London. Freetown Sound, the name of my album, is taken from Freetown where my father was born.”
