The new Calvin Klein “205W39NYC” campaign has descended and it’s a meta marvel. Shot by Raf Simons’ trusted friend and collaborator Willy Vanderperre, the ads portray 22 models scattered in the Mojave Desert wearing the gorge previously-known-as-Calvin-Klein-Collection pieces that Simons and creative direector Pieter Mulier debuted back in February.
The billboards brandishing previous Calvin Klein underwear campaigns in the background represent a “study in art and artifice”. The outsider’s view on America, which is a continued play on the theme explored in the runway show and collection. It’s funny how you see more of one thing and as a result want it less. Guess what? Doesn’t apply here.
