Before the release of the much-anticipated 'Blade Runner 2049', Director Denis Villeneuve has been releasing a trilogy of 'vignettes' that bridge the gap between the original Blade Runner and its 2049 sequel.
The third 'vignette', an anime by 'Cowboy Bebop' director Shinichiro Watanabe, just dropped, completing the trilogy.
The Plot summary: In 2022, an EMP detonation caused a global blackout that has massive, destructive implications all over the world. This is how the blackout was caused by the rebelling replicants.
You can watch it for free right now at Crunchyroll and I highly recommend you do so: it's a real treat for Blade Runner geeks, filled with visual clues and references to the original movie and of course the masterpiece by Philip K. Dick.
Prequel 1: '2036: Nexus Dawn'
