The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp has launched another gen of graduates at SHOW 2019. There was runway drama and fashion royalty (hi Alber, hi Raf!) aplenty to be witnessed. Awards were doled out. But let’s not forget the beats that carried these designs forward. As tradition demands it, we’ve cobbled together a playlist using whole chunks and fragments of the music that will be clinging to the students’ memories for the rest of their lives. It’s not a song-by-song report, more of a mixtape starting off with some of the individual tracks chosen by the Masters, mixing it up with some of the DJ choices along the way and ending with a selection of choice techno cuts to stomp off in any direction you damn well please.

Sidenote 1: pinpointing the evening’s tracklist was more of a challenge than usual, since several tracks were made or mixed for the occasion. There were several DJ’s on stage, including ONE TRACK BRAIN (part of The Subs) opening up with a mix of pummeling techno and live performances by White Dress and Belgian whirlwind sensation Sylvie Kreusch (see also: Warhaus).
Sidenote 2: you will be humming that “Sweet” track for days to come.
