Warhola - Jewels (by Nicolas Karakatsanis)

The greatest working Director of Photography out there, our own Nicolas Karakatsanis, was commissioned by fellow Belgians Warhola and Danish director Anders Malmberg to shoot the video for "Jewels". No one knows how to do shadow play and get you to detect details in the darkness like NK.

Each frame a gem, the "Jewels" visual is a meditation on tumbling teens, muscle mass, neck veins, crew cuts and subtly glistening leotards (I kind of want one now).

The face paint seems a bit extra, but as Anders Malmberg told Nowness:

" The song title, Jewels, inspired me to create a dark universe inhabited by face painted gymnasts, expressionistic figures, who would be like jewels in the night performing their routines."
